Links
Here are a few links to my preferred websites, design ideas, resources, and scripting ideas which can be incorporated into your website.
Websites where you can get some ideas
- CSS Creme
A good website to get ideas about CSS templates, fonts, icons, and other designing features that will make your website shine
- You The
Designer
Another great place to get some sophisticated ideas from an array of very talented designers.
Content management scripts (CMS)
- Joomla
Probably one of the most versatile CMS systems available at the moment. Joomla offers a vast array of open source plugins and layout templates either for free or for fee, and can be utilized to create sites that are from minimal to very complex, while maintaining a consistent look and feel. With the appropriate plugins, Joomla can also be extended to run a reasonably nice shopping cart as well.
- WordPress
Wordpress is a leading CMS script which focuses on the beauty and organization of written text. It originally functioned primarily as a blogging system, which over the years has evolved into a very delightful script which can handle many media types via plugins and extensions. WordPress is also propelled by open source developers, and has a reasonably simple back end to publish from.
- Zenphoto
This is one of my favorites in photo gallery scripts. It has the most intuitive administrative back end that I have used, and now with the Zenpage plugin, it can be used as a photo blogging system as well. I would dare to say that you could create a whole website just from this script with some intuitive template designs. Zenphoto is also one of my favorites because it is not overpowered with heavy graphics, rather it's very simplistic and minimal in its presentation, and lets your writing and photos become the center of attention.
